These guys rock. Playing original material, Island Blues ... "The Island Blues Band" will set you to movin'. They play 1-2 hour sets ... Sexy, jazzy, bluesey; always with that smooth Island style.

Since 1972 Michael has played both solo and with different combos throughout Europe, Scandinavia, Australia, the Carribean and the USA. Here are some of 'em: Ha`upu (Hawaiian), Loose Change (Blues), Na Kanaka (Hawaiian), The Brian Kramer Band (Blues, in Europe), Urban Venner, The Bullock Island Band, Taj Mahal's Hula Blues Band.

Bassman Randy Carnevali has toured extensively through Europe, SE Asia and the Carribean. He has played with Jim Messina, Taj Mahal, Cindy Combs (Dancing Cat Records), Michael Ruff, and is a well-known session man here in Hawaii. Randy gigs regularly locally and is licensed to keep you moving.

The youngest guy in the band, Dan Parslow on Guitar and slide adds his sweet fingers to the mix. He plays regularly along the West US coast and in Hawaii.

Hangin' right in the groove on drums and percussion, we have the Reverend Koko Kaneali`i. Koko is an old war horse having played with the famous Don Ho and Melveen Leed. He gigs regularly in Hawaii with his own jazz combo "Kanak Attack."

The Bullock Island Band (Australia)

When in Australia, do as the Ozzies do... and that is what happens when Michael gets together with these fellas "dan unda." The Newcastle NSW based Bullock Island Band is made up of some of Newcastle's finest seasoned players. Michael and the band were recently headliners at the TAC Wangaratta Festival of Jazz in Victoria.

Guitarist Bob “Wobert” Fletcher still lives on the same block where he grew up. (He don't get out much.) His musical roots are in Blues and Country. Bob has played with several bands, including his last combo - the “DroughtBreakers.” Wobert knows more old and obscure tunes than anyone on the planet.

Ngriki, of Cook Island and Aussie lineage, holds down the back line. Playing bass in this combo, Ngriki is a multi-talented musician on guitar, drums, and several other instruments. He is playing with the band because he’s the only guy we could get who can keep a beat. Ngriki is fully qualified to get you out of any situation.

By far the most level-headed of the group. percussionist Paul “cool” Coghlan also from Newcastle, works the congas, bells, those tingly-ringy things, and other objects that go boink and bong. He will never work up a sweat. Ever.

And finally, drummer Bret Van Kriedt. He also plays a mean Saxophone, but we really just wanted somebody banging on stuff and the sax kept bending. Originally from the USA, he became an Ozzie citizen when his family moved to Australia about 30 years ago. Bret shuffles through the night with the band, keeping that rythmn just where it belongs.

Toss into the mix Hawaii-born songwriter/player Michael Barretto, and you get the international and cross-cultural flavor of Michael Barretto and the Bullock Island Band. Ozzie Heat with Hawaiian Style.
